About the Archaeological-Ethnographic Section

 

 

The Scientific-research laboratory of Cultural heritage of Archaeology was established by the decision N# 76 of the Ministry of Education of Azerbaijan Republic, which was made on February, 1989. By the decision N# 1/ 190 of the rector of BSU that was made on September, 2001 this laboratory was included into the new established "Azerbaijan Studies" SRC, with the name of the "Archaeological-ethnographic Research" section. The director of the section is Ph.D., Professor Arif Mustafayev. Now there works 14 staff. There is 1 head scientific worker, 5 senior scientific workers, 4 chief Methodists, 2 Methodists, 1 security, and 1 restaurateur in the section. 2 of the scientific workers are PhDs and 2 of them are candidates from History.

 

The major issue that is investigated by the section is to give the people transparent and exact information about the results of the research of archaeological and ethnographic culture of world Azerbaijanis. In order to attain this goal the members of the section make some archaeological excavations and ethnographic investigations. At the result of these investigations it was published the monograph in 2 volumes, called "Azerbaijan cultural heritage". The volume of this monograph, written on the basis of archaeological-ethnographic investigations was published in 2 parts. The book, which is enriched by about 200 colorful illustrations and consisted of 900 pages, is publishing at the moment. The main issue of the future activity of the section is to finish the writing of the " Archaeological-ethnographic atlas of Azerbaijan ".There will be explored not only The Azerbaijan Republic, but also the ethno-cultural heritage of the Azerbaijanis living abroad in this work, which is implied in 2 volumes.
