Roundtable on title


A roundtable titled "January 20 is a day of sadness and honor for our people" was held at the History Faculty of Baku State University (BSU). Dean of the Faculty of History, Professor Ibrahim Zeynalov opened the event with a preface, saying that the homeland and land are rising with their martyrs. Noting that the January 20 tragedy was a day of sadness and honor for our people, Zeynalov said that the memory of our martyrs who sacrificed their lives for independence was always cherished and remain in our memory as historical tragedy of Azerbaijanis people.

Participants of faculty of history professors; Rovshan Hatamov, Boran Aziz, Azad Rzayev, Ismail Mammadov, Sevda Huseynova and Mehman Abdullayev spoke about the importance of the tragedy in the history of Azerbaijan's independence. Discussions were held on the main goals, consequences and lessons of the bloody events, and said that it was a turning point in the struggle for freedom of the Azerbaijani people. Historians also spoke about the National Leader Heydar Aliyev's coming to the Permanent Representation of Azerbaijan in Moscow on a sharp statement condemning the perpetrators of the bloody event and his political and legal assessment of the tragedy.

In this event was attended the Vice-Rector of the University for Science and Innovation, corresponding member of Academy Science of Azerbaijan Republic, professor Aydin Kazimzade, also participated students of the faculty.
