ZAKIR ZULFUQAR ABDULLAYEV (1924-1992) Historian

Zakir Abdullayev was born in 1924. In 1946-1951, he studied at the Institute of Asian and African Nations of the Institute of Oriental Studies under Moscow State University. From 1952 to 1955, he did postgraduate studies at the university. In 1958, he defended a PhD thesis, and achieved a ScD degree in 1967. He worked as a senior research fellow and department head at the Institute of Oriental Studies, Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences. From 1967 to 1970, he served as dean of the Faculty of Journalism and head of the Department of General History at Baku State University, From 1969 to 1991, Zakir Abdullayev headed the Department of History of Asian and African Nations. He authored more than 150 papers, which were published in local and foreign periodicals, including in Iran, China and Germany.
