Sani Hajiyev was born on 2 October 1964. He received his secondary education from 1971 to 1981. From 1981 to 1986, he studied at Baku State University, Faculty of History. In 1986, he was dispatched to Kalbajar region, where he was employed as a teacher at the secondary school No3. In 1988, he worked as a senior laboratory assistant at the Institute of Archaeology and Ethnography, Azerbaijan Academy of Sciences. In 1990, he was appointed a senior laboratory assistant at the Department of History of Asian and African Nations, Faculty of History, Baku State University. In 1996, he defended a PhD thesis and was made a lecturer. In 2000, he became an associate professor, and was made deputy dean of the Faculty of History. In 2005, he was promoted to deanship. In 2007, he earned a ScD degree in history. He has served as BSU vice-rector for Social and Student Affairs and Public Relations since 2011. Sani Hajiyev`s research interest lies in “Terrorism in the contemporary Turkey”. He has attended a number of international seminars, symposia and conferences. He has authored a number of books, including “Regional conflicts in Asian and African nations at the modern stage”, “National liberation movement in Asian and African nations after the World War One”, “Turkish-Russian relations and Armenian terrorism”, “Terrorism in present day Turkey”. He is one of the authors of 26-volume “The Turks” encyclopedia, which was published in Turkish and English (Ankara, 2002). He sits on Higher Scientific Council of BSU, and Specialized Thesis Council of the Faculty of History, Baku State University.
