Ruhulla Orujov was born on 1 March 1922. In 1939, he entered the Institute of Agriculture named after K.Marx, Faculty of Law. In 1940, he was conscripted into the army and was demobilized in 1945. The same year he resumed his study at the Faculty of Law, Baku State University. He graduated with honors in 1949, and was made a teacher at the Faculty of Law. He then was promoted to deputy dean of the faculty. From 1951 to 1953, he held key positions in the Central Committee of Azerbaijan Communist Party. From 1953 to 1957, he studied at the Academy of Public Sciences under the Central Committee of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union, where he obtained PhD and ScD degrees. From 1957 to 1960, he held a key post in the Central Committee of the Communist Party and served as an associate professor at Baku Higher Party School. Ruhulla Orujov was elected an associate professor and in 1970 a professor at the Department of General History, Baku State University. He established a scientific school in the field of modern history and history of international relations. He supervised 20 PhD and three ScD students to completion. Ruhulla Orujov had 225 publications, among them monographs, textbooks and handbooks. He was the recipient of a certificate of recognition of the Supreme Soviet of Azerbaijan SSR.
