QABIL ALI ALIYEV (1956) Historian

Qabil Aliyev was born on 13 October 1956. In 1972, he entered Baku State University, Faculty of History, and graduated with honors in 1977. From 1982 to 1985, he did postgraduate studies in the history of Fatherland at BSU. He defended a PhD thesis in 1986, achieving a ScD degree in 2003. He was made an associate professor in 1995, and obtained professorship in 2010. He started his research and teaching career at Baku State University in 1982, serving as a lecturer, senior lecturer, associate professor and professor. He specializes in topical problems of the history of Azerbaijan and Caucasus. He has published over 120 papers and articles, one monograph, three textbooks, two handbooks, four programs, and two methodological handbooks. Qabil Aliyev contributed to the making of “Azerbaijan Democratic Republic” encyclopedia in 2004-2005 by writing over 20 papers on ADR`s diplomatic relations with neighboring countries. Qabil Aliyev has contributed considerably to the writing of textbooks and handbooks for secondary schools. He has supervised over 40 master and one PhD student to completion. He was scientific secretary of the Expert Council on History of the Higher Attestation Commission under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Education and Methodological Council on History of the Ministry of Education, and an expert on history at the State Student Admission Commission.
