Miryusif Mirhadiyev was born in Astara district in 1922. From 1929 to 1939, he studied at Voroshilov district secondary school No1 in Baku, and from 1939 to 1944 at Azerbaijan State University named after S.M.Kirov, Faculty of History. From 1944 to 1947, he did postgraduate studies. In 1947, he defended a PhD thesis. In 1946, he was appointed a senior research fellow at Baku branch of the Institute of Marxism-Leninism. In 1950, Miryusif Mirhadiyev was elected an associate professor at the Department of History of USSR, and in 1968 a professor at the Department of Modern and Soviet Period of History of Azerbaijan and Archive Studies. In 1952-1953 and from 1980 to 1986, he served as dean of the Department of Modern and Soviet Period of History of Azerbaijan and Archive Studies, Azerbaijan State University. He authored articles and methodological handbooks on source criticism of Azerbaijani history and historiography. Miryusif Mirhadiyev published more than 100 papers and contributed to the designing of a number of books on the history of Azerbaijan and USSR. He supervised 10 PhD students to completion. He was the recipient of “Defence of the Caucasus” Medal.
