MAHAL SAMAD MAMMADOV (1933-1983) Historian

Mahal Mammadov was born in Borchali region, Georgia, in 1933. In 1949, he finished Qazaman secondary school. The same year he entered Baku State University, Faculty of History, graduating in 1954. He worked as a teacher at Baku Library Studies Vocational School named after N.Krupskaya in 1958. From 1958 to 1983, he served as an associate professor and professor at the Department of History of Communist Party of USSR, Azerbaijan State University. In 1983, he became head of the Department of Scientific Communism, Azerbaijan Polytechnic Institute named after J.Ildırım. Mahal Mammadov defended a PhD thesis in 1961, and achieved a ScD degree in 1978 and professorship in 1979. He headed the Faculty of History from 1977 to 1980. Mahal Mammadov published nearly 100 papers and two monographs.
