Latifa Hasanova was born on 28 November 1950. In 1968, she entered Baku State University, Faculty of History. She graduated in 1973, and started her postgraduate studies at the Department of History of Azerbaijan. In 1977, she started working as a teaching assistant at the department, and was promoted to a senior lecturer and associate professor. She defended a PhD thesis in 1983, earning a ScD degree in 2005 and professorship in 2012. Her research interests are in the history of Azerbaijan in the 19th century and demography of Azerbaijan in the second half of the 20th century. Latifa Hasanova has published more than 50 papers. She has supervised over 20 masters and a PhD student to completion. She sits on D.02.161 Thesis Council under the Faculty of History, BSU, and is also a member of the editorial staff of “History and its problems” scientific, theoretical and methodological journal.
