Irada Huseynova was born on 19 April 1963. In 1980, she entered Baku State University, Faculty of History. She graduated with honors in 1985, and was offered a post of a teacher at the university. She was promoted to a lecturer, senior lecturer, associate professor and professor. She served as deputy Minister of Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan from 2002-2011. She currently chairs the Department of History of Caucasian Nations, and heads Armenian Studies Research Laboratory. Irada Huseynova defended a PhD thesis in 1995, and got a ScD degree in 2004. In her doctoral thesis, she highlighted Heydar Aliyev`s role in building and strengthening modern Azerbaijan. She has published more than 200 papers, a number of monographs and textbooks. Her most popular monographs are “For the Sake of Statehood” (Baku, 2001), “Guarantor of Independence” (Baku, 2003), “Founder of Modern Azerbaijani State” (Baku, 2004). She has supervised over 60 masters, PhD and ScD students to completion. She is the recipient of “Merited Teacher” title, “Azerbaijani Flag” and “Golden Pen” awards, and the holder of the International Socrates Award of the University of Oxford.
