ASMAD MAHAMMAD MUKHTAROVA (1944) Historian

Asmad Mukhtarova was born on 3 April 1944. From 1962 to 1967, she studied at Baku State University, Faculty of History. From 1967 to 1970, she did postgraduate studies at the Faculty of History. She started her working career at the faculty in 1971. In 2000, she was made head of the Department of History of Turkic and Caucasian Nations. She has headed the Department of History of Turkic Nations since 2012. In 1974, she defended a PhD thesis, and achieved a ScD degree in 1991. Asmad Mukhtarova has published more than 70 papers, study programs, methodological handbooks and textbooks. She has published five monographs, and also edited a number of monographs and textbooks. In 1999, the Board of Editors of “Xatun” journal and Organizing Committee of “Xatun” Literary Society awarded her “Sara Xatun” certificates of recognition for publishing “History of Turkic nations (ancient period and Middle Ages)” textbook. She sat on the Specialized PhD and ScD Thesis Council. Asmad Mukhtarova is a member of the Thesis Council under the Faculty of History. She has supervised eight PhD students to completion. She is the founder and editor-in-chief of “History and its problems” scientific, theoretical and methodological journal. Founded in 1997, the journal has already had 70 editions published. She is the recipient of a certificate of recognition of the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
