BRIEF BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

• Citizen of the Republic of Azerbaijan, born on April 16, 1966

 

EDUCATION, SCIENTIFIC DEGREES AND TITLES

• 1992, graduated from Baku State University (BSU), Department of History.

• 2003 defended PhD dissertation on "Kipchaks and Azerbaijan (in the context of ethnogenesis)"

• Since 2014, Associate professor of the History Department at BSU.

• Ethnic and religious processes in Azerbaijan in the age of the spread of Islam, the impact of religion on ethnic and national identity

• Ethnogenesis of the Azerbaijani people, formation of the ethnic system

• New approaches to historical research – constructivism vs. essentialism

• Religion, national identity and women

• The Caucasian Albanian church and Islamisation of Azerbaijan

• The ancient and medieval Turks and Azerbaijan
